We are each given an hourglass every day of our lives.  It pours out tiny particles of sand over a 24 hour period.  At the end of it all we have is a reflection – a memory, because certainly it will never return.  No matter how bad we want it to, the day will not ever return.  How did you spend it?  What did you do with the gift of time that was presented to you today?  The amazing thing about time is that it is no respecter of persons – rich, poor, good, evil, whatever, whomever we all have the same amount to spend.

This year I have also learned that not only is the day valuable, but it is the only time we can receive a blessing from God.  He can’t bless yesterday because it is gone.  He can’t bless tomorrow because it’s not here yet.  The only thing he can do is to bless today.  God blesses everyday but did you recognize it?  Did you recognize the husband that you have, the job that keeps a roof over your head even though you might not like it, or the children you bore?  Did you recognize the air you are breathing or the sleep that you had?  Did you recognize that most of us are in good health?  Open your eyes to see the blessings that are all around you.

How was your day?  In many parts of the world it is morning, in other parts of the world it is night.  No matter what time of day it is, if you had a good day make it better until your eyes close for sleep.  If you had a bad day make it better before your eyes close for sleep.  You can make it better by thanking God that despite it all you are alive, telling someone that you love them, doing a kind deed, or even sending a quick text of gratitude.
