My weight loss goal started the day I got married. My husband and I made a pact we would look the same way that we did at fifty, as the day we got married. We did it.  We absolutely did it.  In 30 years I’ve only gained five pounds from the weight that I was when I got married.  To be honest I needed those five pounds.  He has probably done the same if not less.  How did we do it?  We came up with a weight loss program that would be fun, easy and natural.

The fun part of weight loss:

I put on my wedding dress every year to make sure that I can fit it.

He loves sports and works out continuously during the week.

Hint: Find a long term solution that you can commit to for life.  For me it was the joy of seeing myself in the mirror in the same shape that I was in on my wedding day.

For him it was the joy of staying fit. What about you?  Is there an old pair of jeans that you once loved, but can no longer wear?   Can setting the goal to fit back in those jeans be your motivation?

The easy part of weight loss:

Learn basic health principles and stick with them.  Here is the most basic weight loss plan.  If you want to keep the weight off focus on proteins, vegetables, unrefined carbs and water.

Indulge in moderation – holidays, special nights out, birthdays, etc. Allow yourself one pig out day during the week, if you must.

The natural part of weight loss:

Eat foods as close to nature as possible.  You can find the most natural foods around the perimeter of the grocery store and not down the aisles.

Learn to enjoy and cook more plant based foods.
